1 John 3:18: God is greater than our distinctive character
God is greater than our distinctive character
1 John 3:18-22
18 My little children, let us not love in word (spoken word), neither in tongue (language); but in deed (work or labor) and in (upon) truth (as the revealed reality lying at the basis of, and agreeing with, an appearance; the essence of a matter).
19 And hereby (resting within this) we know that we are of (out from, the origins of) (upon) the truth, and shall assure (to have faith) our hearts before him.
20 For if (hypothetical but possible condition based future circumstances) our heart condemn (to note against, hence to think ill) us, God is greater (large of physical magnitude) than our heart, and knoweth all things.
21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence (the speaking of all one thinks; ie free spokeness) toward God.
22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
2 Corinthians 7:10
10 For godly sorrow (Godly grief) worketh (to work out) repentance (a real change of mind from sin itself; change of moral thought, from sin nature to spiritual) to salvation (safety)…
