You are free – Ephesians 1:1-5
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at (resting within) Ephesus, and to the faithful in (resting within) Christ Jesus:
Grace be to you, and peace, from (origin or source) God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all (every) spiritual blessings in (resting within) heavenly (the heavenlies) places in Christ:
According as he hath chosen us in (resting within) him before the foundation of the world (the disruption or ruin of the world), that we should be holy and without blame (blemish of sin) before (in his sight) him in love:
Having predestinated (foreordained) us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according (even) to the good pleasure of his will,
Having predestinated (foreordained) us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according (even) to the good pleasure of his will,
To the praise of the glory of his grace (inclining disposition), wherein (which) he hath made us accepted (engraved) in the beloved (Jesus Christ).
In whom we have redemption (the deliverance of the soul from sin/body, grave) through (the dividing line) his blood, the forgiveness of sins (remission of debt, setting free), according (even) to the riches of his grace;
Wherein he hath abounded (to be over and above, more than enough) toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
Having made known unto us the mystery of his (God) will, according to his (God) good pleasure which he (God) hath purposed (to resolve in mind, to resolve in one’s spirit, to set or put berfore anyone, one’s mind) in himself:
That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
In whom also we have obtained (to be a receiver of a portion of an inheritance , to obtain by lot) an inheritance, being predestinated (fore ordained, predetermined) according to the purpose (of what one sets before his mind) of him who worketh (to be in work, active, energized) all things after the counsel of his own will:
That (t0 the end) we should be to the praise (praised upon) of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
In whom ye also trusted (ellipsis: in whom ye were made an inheritance also; or allotted as God’s own inheritance), after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed (a seal affixed, implies possession) with that holy Spirit of promise,
Which is the earnest (pledge) of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
