1542. Proverbs 32
Proverbs 3:1-9
3 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep (guard) my commandments:
2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
3 Let not mercy (loving kindness, grace) and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:
4 So shalt thou find favour and good understanding (discernment) in the sight of God and man.
DISCERNMENT, noun The act of discerning; also, the power or faculty of the mind, by which it distinguishes one thing from another, as truth from falsehood, virtue from vice; acuteness of judgment; power of perceiving differences of things or ideas, and their relations and tendencies. The errors of youth often proceed from the want of discernment
5 Trust (confide) in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean (rely upon, lean on for stability) not unto thine own understanding (discernment).
6 In all thy ways acknowledge (recongnize him) him, and he shall direct (rightly divide) thy paths.
7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart (shun, avoid) from evil.
8 It shall be health (healing) to thy navel (fig. for the whole body), and marrow (moistening) to thy bones.
9 Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
