1548. Face God
Face God – Proverbs 3:5-6, Ecclesiastes 2:24, Philippians 4:4-8, 1 John 4:16-18, Colossians 3:1-10
Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust (confide) in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding (discernment: power of faculty of mind by which distinguishing one thing from the other)
6 In all thy ways acknowledge (recognize) him, and he shall direct (rightly divide) thy paths.
Ecclesiastes 2:24
24 There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.
Philippians 4:4-8
4 Rejoice (be delighted, pleased) in (resting within) the Lord (Christ) always: and again I say, Rejoice.
5 Let your moderation (forbearance and consideration) be known (experientially known) unto all men. The Lord (Christ) is at hand.
6 Be careful (anxious)l for nothing (not one thing); but in every thing (all things) by prayer (prayers to God) and supplication (specific prayers of need) with thanksgiving let your requests (specific requests) be made known (declare) unto God.
7 And the peace (state of wellbeing) of God, which passeth (surpassing) all understanding (thought), shall keep (garrison or fortify) your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest (dignified), whatsoever things are just (righteous), whatsoever things are pure (free from every defilement), whatsoever things are lovely (dear to anyone), whatsoever things are of good report (well spoken, well worded); if there be any virtue (good, quality, excellence), and if there be any praise, think on these things
1 John 4:16-18
16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
18 There is not fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
Colossians 3:1-10
3 If ye then be risen (were raised with) with Christ, seek (endeavor to find) those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
2 Set your affection (mind) on things above, not on things on the earth (land).
3 For ye are dead (died), and your life is (has been) hid (laid up in store) with (in conjunction with) Christ in (resting within) God.
4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear (be manifested make visible) with him in glory.
14 And above all these things put on charity (love), which is the bond of perfectness.
15 And let the peace of God (Christ) rule (be umpire) in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
5 Mortify (put to death) therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection (passion or lust), evil concupiscence (desire), and covetousness (wantoness), which is idolatry:
6 For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
8 But now ye also put off (like a tee shirt) all these; anger, wrath (causal passion that could lead to anger), malice (every form of evil), blasphemy (slander), filthy communication (the license of the ungoverned tongue, obscene language) out of your mouth.
9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man (man’s nature) with his deeds;
10 And have put on (like a tee shirt) the new man, which is renewed (newly made, daily acquiring strength) in (motion to) knowledge (epignosis: a true and personal relationship with an object, where you hear from it and heed it’s advice) after (in parallel motion with) the image (pattern) of him that created him:
