619. Safety or preservation comes from believing and confessing Jesus as Christ

Safety or preservation comes from believing and confessing Jesus as Christ – Romans 10:1-10

Romans 10:1-10

10 Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel (them) is, that they might be saved.

For I bear them record that they have a zeal (to boil, seethe, vehement passion) of God, but not according to knowledge (epignosis: being acquainted with).

For they being ignorant (not to understand, not to perceive) of God’s righteousness (the doing or being what is just and right), and going about (seeking) to establish (cause to stand) their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

For Christ (the messiah) is the end (fulfillment or completion) of the law for (motion to) righteousness to every one that believeth (to have faith).

For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by (resting within) them.

But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:)

Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)

But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word (specific spoken words) of faith, which we preach;

That if thou shalt confess (agree, admit) with thy mouth the Lord Jesus (Jesus as Lord), and shalt believe in thine heart (the seat of life, the starting point, organ of concentration) that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved (made sound, preserved safe).

10 For with the heart man believeth (it is believed) unto (motion to) righteousness; and with the mouth confession (it is confessed) is made unto (motion to) salvation.
