740. Put on the word of God

Put on the word of God – Ecclesiastes 5:4-5, Ecclesiastes 5:10, Ecclesiastes 6:9, Ecclesiastes 7:8-9, Ecclesiastes 7:14, 16, Ecclesiastes 1:18

Ecclesiastes 5:4-5, Ecclesiastes 5:10

When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.

Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.

10 He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity.

Ecclesiastes 6:9

Better is the sight of the eyes (fig. for what’s is seen) than the wandering (a traveling without a settled course) of the desire (fig. for what is pursued thereby): this is also vanity and vexation of spirit.

Ecclesiastes 7:8-9, Ecclesiastes 7:14, 16

Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.

Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.

14 In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider: God also hath set the one over against the other, to the end that man should find nothing after him.

16 Be not righteous over much; neither make thyself over wise: why shouldest thou destroy thyself ?

Ecclesiastes 1:18

18 For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.
