963. Leave off the small arguments – daily bible verse

Leave off the small arguments – Proverbs 13:2-3, 10, 12, 22; Proverbs 17:14

Proverbs 13:2-3, 10, 12, 22

A man shall eat good (fig. for what’s gained by effort) by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors (traitors, faithless ones) shall eat violence.

He that keepeth (guards, protects) his mouth (fig. for what’s spoken thereby) keepeth (guards) his life (soul): but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.

10 Only by pride cometh (only) contention (debate, strife): but with the well advised (modest) is wisdom.

12 Hope deferred maketh the heart sick (deprive of strength, to weaken): but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.

22 A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.

Proverbs 17:14

14 The beginning of strife (angry arguments) is as when one letteth out water (like breaching a dam): therefore leave off (to disperse, reject, cast off) contention (little quarrels), before it be meddled with (gatherers volume).
