Put God first – 2 Thessalonians 1:2-4, 2 2 Thessalonians 2:13-17
2 Thessalonians 1:2-4
2 Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;
4 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:
2 Thessalonians 2:13-17
13 But we are bound (under obligation) to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord (Christ), because God hath from the beginning chosen (chose) you to salvation (safety) through (resting within) sanctification (to set in a state corresponding to God’s nature) of the Spirit (holy spirit) and belief (faith) of the truth:
14 Whereunto (Unto which) he called (to summon, to call by name) you by our gospel, to the obtaining (unto acquiring) of the glory (splendor, brilliance resting within the appearance) of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast (firm), and hold (lay hold on) the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle (letter).
16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given (gave) us everlasting (everlasting of or belonging to an age) consolation (a calling near, summons, encouraging, exhortation, invitation) and good hope (expectation of future good) through (remaining within) grace (free undeserved favor),
17 Comfort (to speak to, to pacify) your hearts, and stablish (set fast, establish) you in (remaining within) every good word (logos: spoken word as connected to the inner thoughts) and work (that which is accomplished by labor).
