1493. Be thankful God is your father
Be thankful God is your father – Hebrews 13:5, Hebrews 12:1-9
Hebrews 13:5
5 Let your conversation (way of life) be without covetousness (love of money); and be content with such things as ye have (the things that are present): for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Hebrews 12:1-9
12 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed (surrounded) about with so great a cloud of witnesses (these whose lives witness the power of faith), let us lay aside every weight (incumbrance), and the sin which doth so easily beset (a complete thwarting) us, and let us run with (through) patience (patient enduring) the race that is set before us,
2 Looking (looking away from the witness ) unto Jesus the author (leader, beginning) and finisher (perfecter) of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising (thinking) the shame (to make an example of, make a show of, exposed to public pointing), and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3 For consider him that endured such contradiction (a speaking against) of (by) sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
4 Ye have not yet resisted (to stand firm against) unto blood, striving against (to be a competitor) sin.
5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:
6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth (to educate, to learn to suffer) , and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth (to educate, to learn to suffer)not?
8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.
9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?
