1541. Rest in God’s word
Rest in God’s word – Ecclesiastes 6:9, Hebrews 4:9-12, Galatians 5:1
Ecclesiastes 6:9
9 Better is the sight of the eyes (fig. for what’s is seen) than the wandering (a traveling without a settled course) of the desire (fig. for what is pursued thereby): this is also vanity and vexation of spirit.
Hebrews 4:9-12
9 There remaineth therefore a rest (rest day) to the people of God.
10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased (rested) from his own works, as God did from his (own).
11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after (remaining within) the same example of unbelief.
12 For the word (spoken word) of God is quick (living), and powerful (strength and effectual in operation), and sharper (more cutting) than (above) any twoedged sword, piercing even (passing through) to the dividing asunder (the act of dividing) of soul and spirit (differentiating between that which is begotten of the flesh and that which is begotten of the spirit), and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner (skilled in judging) of the thoughts (secret motives and emotional revolving of the mind) and intents (what is in the mind, idea) of the heart (the seat of one’s distinctive character).
Galatians 5:1
5 Stand fast therefore in the liberty (freedom to to go where one will) wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage (servitude).
You’re called to safety and preservation
