Becoming wise

Becoming wise – Proverbs 8:1-6; Proverbs 8:11; Proverbs 8:15

Proverbs 8:1-6

Who is as the wise man? and who knoweth the interpretation (understanding) of a thing? a man’s wisdom maketh his face to shine, and the boldness (sterness) of his face shall be changed.

I counsel thee (I say then) to keep the king’s commandment, and that in regard (on account) of the oath of God.

Be not hasty to go out of his sight: stand (do not take they stand) not in an evil (breaking up that which is good; moral dipravity or corruption) thing; for he doeth whatsoever pleaseth him.

Where the word of a king is, there is power (might, control): and who may say unto him, What doest thou?

Whoso keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man’s heart discerneth both (a) time (yea) and judgment (a judgement time).

Because to every purpose (desire, delight) there is time and judgment (a time, yea a judgement time), therefore the misery (when the evil) of man is great upon him.

Proverbs 8:11

11 Because sentence (judicial sentence) against an evil work is not executed speedily (quickly, shortly), therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.

Proverbs 8:15

15 Then I commended mirth (gladness or gaiety accompanied by laughter), because a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him of his labour the days of his life, which God giveth him under the sun.
