¹⁷ So then faith cometh by (out from) hearing, and hearing by (the dividing line) the word of God (Christ).

John 15:1-5

15 I am the true (real) vine, and my Father is the husbandman (a farmer, a cultivator).

² Every branch in (resting within) me that beareth not fruit he taketh (raiseth, the idea being lifted off the ground) away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth (cleaneth) it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

³ Now (already) ye are clean (without blemish) through (on account of) the word which I have spoken unto you.

⁴ Abide (remain, dwell)) in (resting within) me, and I in you (I also in you). As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

⁵ I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Peace and joy come from believing

Romans 15:13

¹³ Now the God of hope (the expectation of future good) fill (fulfilled, complete) you with all joy (be delighted) and peace (undisturbed state of well-being) in (resting within) believing (having a firm reliance specifically what you hear from God), that ye may abound (be over and above, more than enough) in (resting within) hope (the expectation of future good), through (the dividing line) the power (inherent power) of the Holy Ghost (pneuma hagion: the spiritual gifts).
