Little Children: Love not the world (the kosmos)
Love not the world (the kosmos)
1 John 2:13-14
12 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake.
13 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known (gnosko: experiential learning) him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.
14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.
Wisdom and money are a defense or a shadow
Ecclesiastes 7:12
12 For wisdom is a defence (defense and shadow), and money is a defence (defense and shadow): but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.
1 John 2:15-17
15 Love not the world (kosmos: the arrangement)…
Bullinger: Love: love which brings from admiration and veneration which chooses its objects with decision of will and devotes a self denying and compassionate devotion to it).
15 Love not the world (kosmos: the arrangement), neither the things that are in the world (kosmos: the arrangement). If any man love the world (kosmos: the arrangement), the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world (kosmos: the arrangement), the lust (sinful desire) of the flesh (carnal nature), and the lust (sinful desire) of the eyes, and the pride (the character of a false pretender, imposter, braggart, boastful, pride, arrogant) of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world (kosmos: the arrangement).
17 And the world (kosmos: the arrangement) passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
