Love not this world or kosmos or this arrangement – 2 Peter 2:9-12; 1 John 2:15-17; 1 John 3:2

2 Peter 2:9-12

⁹ The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptation, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

¹² But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of (resting within) the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;

1 John 2:15-16

¹⁵ Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world (kosmos: this arrangement). If any man love the world (kosmos), the love of the Father is not in (resting within) him.

¹⁶ For all that is in the world (kosmos: this arrangement), the lust (sinful desire) of the flesh (carnal nature), and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of (out from) the world.

¹⁷ And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

1 John 3:2

² Beloved, now are we the sons (children, dependents) of God, and it doth not yet appear (to shine forth, as to be seen) what we shall be: but we know that, when he (Jesus Christ) shall appear, we shall be like him (Jesus Christ); for we shall see him as he is.

³ And every man that hath this hope in (set or fixed on) him purifieth (to make clean; pure, chaste, clean, not contaminated by anything) himself, even as he is pure (to make clean; pure, chaste, clean, not contaminated by anything).
