NT – Provide things honest; Capture every thought

PROVIDE THINGS HONEST

Paul was writing to the Corintihains exhorting them regarding how he behaved himself and he says:

2 Co 8:21 “Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight go men.”

Translation: For we provide honest things… not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.

I love this verse because we are to provide things honest.. this is fundamental to how we treat others. What’s beautiful, though, what they considered important… who did they list first? Who were they providing things honest to? Was it men or the Lord? Their first priority is the Lord and the Lord here is not the Lord Jesus Christ but the Lord God (Jehovah). They provided things honest to the Lord God and to men. Consider what you are saying because it’s God who is listening…

CAPTURE EVERY THOUGHT

2 Co 10:3 “For though we walk in the flesh (or by the fleshly / wordly / natural) nature (the nature of the natural man) we do not war after the flesh:

Translation: Though we walk in the nature of man’s natural state, we do not war in man’s natural state

2 Co 10:4 “(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal (fleshly) but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;)

2 Co 10:5 “Casting down imaginations (thoughts or reasons) and every high thing that exhalteth itself AGAINST the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity EVERY THOUGHT to the obedience of Christ”

We are walking through this life as a carnal man, a beast with it’s natural impulses. Yet when we war, we are not waring as a natural beast or the created man… we are waring after a spiritual manner… for the weapons we use are mighty and powerful through God…. God gives you, the believer, the ability to capture every thought your natural mind produces and stop it from producing bad fruit… you can control the thoughts of your mind because God gives you that ability.
