Lie not one to another – Ephesians 4:17-25

Ephesians 4:17-25

¹⁴ For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

¹⁵ Of (out from) whom the whole (every) family in heaven and earth is named,

¹⁶ That (in order that) he would grant you (may give you), according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened (make powerful in effect) with might (the being able, ability) by his Spirit (holy spirit) in the inner (the within) man;

¹⁷ That Christ (the Christ) may dwell (to settle down in a fixed dwelling, the place) in your hearts by (through) faith; that (in order that) ye, being rooted (to take root) and grounded (founded) in love (love irrespective of rights),

¹⁸ May be (fully able) able to comprehend (comprehend for one’s self) with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;

¹⁹ And to know (experientially know) the love of Christ (the messiah), which passeth knowledge (gnosis – experiential knowledge), that ye might be filled (to fulfill, accomplish) with all the fulness of God.

²⁰ Now unto him that (who) is able to do exceeding abundantly (infinitely beyond abundance) above all (things) that we ask or think (the implied pleading for cause), according to the power that worketh in us,

²¹ Un To him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

²² That ye put off (put away) concerning (with the ultimate purpose) the former (before) conversation (manner of life) the old man (Adam nature), which is corrupt (being corrupted) according to the deceitful lusts (sinful desires);

²³ And be renewed (implies that the whole course of life now flows in a different direction) in the spirit (your spirit, desires, action) of your mind (reflective conscious);

²⁴ And that ye put on the new man (new nature), (that) which after (along the same motion) God is (was) created in (remaining within) righteousness and (of the) true (truth) holiness (godliness).

²⁵ Wherefore putting (having put) away lying (the lie), speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
