You’ve been called to a spiritual calling – 2 Thessalonians 2:13-17

2 Thessalonians 2:13-17

¹³ But we are bound (under obligation) to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord (Christ), because God hath from the beginning chosen (chose) you to salvation (safety) through (resting within) sanctification (to set in a state corresponding to God’s nature) of the Spirit (holy spirit) and belief (faith) of the truth:

¹⁴ Whereunto (Unto which) he called (to summon, to call by name) you by our gospel, to the obtaining (unto acquiring) of the glory (splendor, brilliance resting within the appearance) of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁵ Therefore, brethren, stand fast (firm), and hold (lay hold on) the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle (letter).

¹⁶ Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given (gave) us everlasting (everlasting of or belonging to an age) consolation (a calling near, summons, encouraging, exhortation, invitation) and good hope (expectation of future good) through (remaining within) grace (free undeserved favor),

¹⁷ Comfort (to speak to, to pacify) your hearts, and stablish (set fast, establish) you in (remaining within) every good word (logos: spoken word as connected to the inner thoughts) and work (that which is accomplished by labor).
