Set your face towards God – Proverbs 16:1, Colossians 2:1-9

Proverbs 16:1

1 The plans of the heart belong to man,
    but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord.

Colossians 2:1-9

1 For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;

² (In order that) That their hearts might be comforted (to call aside, appeal to), being knit together in love, and unto (motion to) all riches (abounding riches) of the full assurance (the trust and conviction) of understanding (reflective insight or thought), to (with a view to) the acknowledgement (acquainted with knowledge) of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of (even) Christ;

³ In whom (In Christ) are hid all the treasures of wisdom (the right application of knowledge) and knowledge (acquired by learning).

⁴ And this I say, lest any man should beguile (deceive) you with enticing words (persuasive discourse).

⁵ For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.

⁶ As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him (Jesus Christ):

⁷ Rooted (to take root) and built up (built upon) in (resting within) him (JC), and stablished (to confirm, ratified) in (by) the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding (more than enough) therein with thanksgiving.

⁸ Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
