Obtained an inheritance by lot – Numbers 26:52-56, Ephesians 1:10-14

Numbers 26:52-56

⁵² And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

⁵³ Unto these the land shall be divided for an inheritance according to the number of names.

⁵⁴ To many thou shalt give the more inheritance, and to few thou shalt give the less inheritance: to every one shall his inheritance be given according to those that were numbered of him.

⁵⁵ Notwithstanding the land shall be divided by lot: according to the names of the tribes of their fathers they shall inherit.

⁵⁶ According to the lot shall the possession thereof be divided between many and few.

Ephesians 1:10-14

¹¹ In whom also we have obtained an inheritance (to be a receiver of a portion ((Numbers 26:55)) of an inheritance, to obtain by lot), being predestinated (fore ordained) according to the purpose (of what one sets before his mind) of him who worketh (to be in work, active, energized) all things after the counsel of his own will:

¹² That (in order that) we should be to the praise (praise upon, applause, commendation, approbation) of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

¹³ In whom (in whom ye were made an inheritance also; or allotted as God’s own inheritance) ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom (in whom ye were made an inheritance also; or allotted as God’s own inheritance) also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

¹⁴ Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
