628. Rejoice, pray and be thankful
Rejoice, pray and be thankful – 1 Thessalonians 5:8-18
Thessalonians 5:8-18
But let us, who are of the day, be sober (temperate, watchful, circumspectly), putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
For (Because) God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together (united) with him.
Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish (to put into mind, to instruct) you;
And to esteem (reckon) them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
Now we exhort (call aside, appeal) you, brethren, warn (mind, to put into, instruct) them that are unruly (disorderly), comfort (sooth, pacify) the feebleminded (faint hearted), support (hold fast, cleave) the weak, be patient (slow to anger, passion) toward all men.
See that none render evil (depraved, bad in nature) for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
Rejoice (be delighted, pleased, glad) evermore (always, eternally).
Pray (pray to God) without ceasing (unceasing, without intermission).
In (resting within) every thing give thanks (to show oneself thankful): for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning (in regards to) you.
Rejoice, pray and be thankful
