644. The two new commandments
The two new commandments – 1 John 3:22-24, 1 John 3: 18-21
1 John 3:22-24
22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit (the new spiritual nature) which he hath given (gave) us.
1 John 3: 18-21
18 My little children, let us not love (make much of a thing, regard with favor) in word (spoken word), neither in tongue (language); but in deed (work or labor) and in (upon) truth.
19 And hereby (resting within this) we know that we are of (out from the origin) the (upon) truth, and shall assure (have faith) our hearts before him.
20 For if our heart condemn (to think ill, to note against) us, God is greater (large, of physical magnitude) than our heart, and knoweth all things.
21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence (the speaking of all one things, ie. free spokeness) toward God.
