You are set forth as upright by and through faith – Romans 4:1-8

Romans 4:1-8

What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?

For if Abraham were justified (set forth as righteous) by works, he hath whereof to glory (he has something to boast about); but not before God.

For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

Now to him that worketh (labor) is the reward not reckoned (counted) of grace, but of debt.

But to him that worketh (labor) not, but believeth on him that justifieth (set forth as righteous) the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth (count) righteousness without works (labor),

Saying, Blessed ( are they whose iniquities (violations of the law) are forgiven (dismissed), and whose sins are covered (covered over, hidden).

Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute (count) sin.
