The wicked – in contrast to the wicked are those who seek Yahweh. The wicked, then, are those who do not seek Yahweh or his commands, who will not be guided by him. Who is wicked is thus measured by God, by his commands, and by obedience to them.
Evil: God determines what is EVIL and in this sense evil is to be understood simply as that which is contrary to God. Hence:
Morally bad, culpable, the will which has turned aside from God
Darkness reigned until Christ (the light) came – John 3:19
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds (labor, business, employment, and then work, something done, deed, act, action) were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds (labor, business, employment, and then work, something done, deed, act, action) should be reproved (discovered – to have anything pointed out to oneself).
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds (labor, business, employment, and then work, something done, deed, act, action) may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
1a. Genesis 8:21 – mens imaginations of thought are continually evil
21 And the Lord smelled a sweet savour; and the Lord said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination (frame of mind) of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

Isaiah 26:3-4 – God will keep a man in perfect peace whose frame of mind is stayed on him because he TRUSTS in God

4 Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength:
Trust – (derives from the word hope)
Hope (1690)
El Peace (HOPE) (1690) (theological dictionary Kittle)
There is here something characteristic. In the OT there is no neutral concept of expectation. An expectation is either good or bad and therefor it is either hope or fear. Hope itself is thus differentiated linguistically from fear of the future. Hope as expectation of good is closely linked with trust, and expectation is also yearning in, in which the element of patient waiting for fleeing for refuge is emphasized.
Hope is thus hope of the good, and so long as there is life there is hope. But this hope is not a consoling dream of the imagination which causes us to forget our present troubles, nor are we warned of is uncertainty, as in the Greek world. The life of the righteous is grounded in hope. To have hope, to have a future, is a sign that things are well with us. This hope is naturally directed to God.
Hope (noun) – Bullinger Lexicon – ie expectation of something future.
Subjective: a well-grounded expectation and a gladly and firmly help prospect of a future good
Objective: the expected good, that for which we hope
1st usage
Act 2:25-26 – Davids hope was in the coming messiah – as a result his heart rejoiced, his tongue was glad, and he rested in hope (the expectation of future good)
25 For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:
26 Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:
