Teaching 3:1 – don’t talk shit, spare your words, the fruit of your mouth

Last teaching we talked about ruling your spirit and staying out of others quarrels. We also spoke about keeping arguments and discords to yourself and answering in a bland or mellow tone. I’m going to pick up right were we left off and discuss these three topics:

  1. Don’t talk shit or sew discord
  2. By sparing your words, you’ll reduce error
  3. Eating good by the fruit of your lips (you’ll be satisfied by what comes or is produced) by your mouth.

DON’T TALK SHIT

Pr 6:16 “These six things doth the Lord hate: Yea seven an abomination unto him:

Pr 6:17 “a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood,

Pr 6: 18 “an heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running into mischief,

Pr 6:19 “a false witness that speakers lies and he that south discord among bretheren.

  1. A proud look
  2. A lying tongue
  3. Hands that shed innocent blood
  4. An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations
  5. Feet that be swift in running into mischief
  6. A false witness that speaketh lies
  7. And he that soweth discord among bretheren

Bullinger: to sow: To scatter seed

I’m going to focus on the last one… “he that south discord among bretheren”… To sow means to scatter seed, like when you plant a garden. Those who scatter seeds of discord among brethren are an abomination to God. It’s the whispering and the chatting behind peoples backs that will ultimately create discord or disagreements among bretheren… and God disposes that. In fact, ye are to do the opposite.

COVERING A TRANSGRESSION – SEEKETH LOVE

Pr 17:9 “He that covereth a transgression seekers love: but he that repeateth a matter seperateth very (true) friends.”

By covering a transgression and not repeating it, by covering up an action when someone does wrong, you are seeking love… which is interesting because that’s the only commandment God gives us now that Jesus Christ died and rose again. It is to “Believe on the name of his son and LOVE one another.” By covering a person’s transgressions, you are biblically accomplishing this.
