We are chosen and you’ve been called
We are chosen and you’ve been called – 2 Thessalonians 2:13-17
2 Thessalonians 2:13-17
13 But we are bound (under obligation) to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because (choose) God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation (safety) through sanctification (to set in a state corresponding to God’s nature) of the Spirit (holy spirit) and belief (faith) of the truth:
14 Whereunto (unto which) he called (summoned, to call by name) you by our gospel, to the obtaining (unto acquiring) of the glory (splendor, brilliance) of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast (firm), and hold (lay hold on) the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle (letter).
16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation (a calling near, summons, encouraging, exhortation, invitation) and good hope through (resting within) grace (free, undeserved favor),
17 Comfort (to speak to, to pacify) your hearts, and stablish (set fast, establish) you in every good word (logos: the spoken word as connected to the inner though) and work (that which is accomplished by labor)
