You’re purified by the hope of Jesus Christ’s return – 1 John 3:1-3

1 John 3:1-3

3 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon (given to) us, (in order that) that we should be called the sons (descendants, children) of God: therefore (on account of this) the world (kosmos: this arrangement) knoweth (ginosko: experiential learning) us not, because it knew him not (expressing full and direct negation).

² Beloved, now are we the sons (descendants, children) of God, and it doth not yet appear (to shine forth as to be seen) what we shall be: but we know that, when he (JC) shall appear (to shine forth as to be seen), we shall be like him; for we shall see him (with the eyes and look away from others, to regard) (even as) as he is.

³ And every man that hath this hope (expectation of future good) in (set or fixed on) him purifieth (to make clean, pure, chaste, clean, not contaminated by anything) himself, even as he (JC) is pure (from every defilement).
