God chose and called you

God chose and called you

2 Thessalonians 2:1-17

Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

(to the end) That ye be not soon (quickly) shaken (moved to and fro) in (from) mind (the organ of moral thinking), or be troubled, neither by (through) spirit (spiritual communication), nor by word (spoken words), nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first (apostasy: abandonment of one’s faith; total destruction), and that man (a homo genus: human species) of sin be revealed (unveiled, visible to the eye), the son of perdition (destruction and ruin);

Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in (resting within) his time.

For the mystery of iniquity (violation of the law) doth already work (work actively): only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness (wrong doing) in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness (wrong doing).

13 But we are bound (under obligation) to give thanks alway to God for (circling around, the center of) you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen (chose) you to salvation (safety) through (resting within) sanctification (essential purity, holiness) of the Spirit (holy spirit) and belief (faith) of the truth:

14 Whereunto (Unto which) he called (summoned, called by name) you by our gospel, to the obtaining (unto acquiring) of the glory (splendor or brilliance) of our Lord Jesus Christ.

15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast (firm), and hold the traditions (the act of delivering: ie.. the mystery) which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation (a calling near, summons, encouraging, exhortation, invitation) and good hope (expectation of future good) through (resting within) grace (free undeserved favor),

17 Comfort (speak to) your hearts (the organ of moral thinking), and stablish (set firm, establish) you in every good word (spoken word) and work (that which is accquired by labor).

God chose and called you
