Work to enter into his rest

Work to enter into his rest

God rested on the seventh day

Genesis 2:1-3

Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

God’s blessing: he will multiply and give authority

Genesis 1:22 and 28

22 And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.

28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Hebrews 3:18-19

18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?

19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

Not entering into his rest if you don’t believe

Hebrews 4:1-11

Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short (have failed) of it.

For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed (blended, united) with faith (believing) in them that heard it.

For we which have (absolute) believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

For he spake (hath said) in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.

There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased (rested) from his own works, as God did from his (own).

11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after (resting within) the same example of unbelief.

2 Peter 1:2

Grace (loving disposition, favor) and peace (the state of undisturbed rest and wellbeing) be multiplied (make you full) unto you through (through the instrument) the knowledge (epignosis: a true and personal relationship coupled with heeding and admonishing that relationship’s advice) of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

Work to enter into his rest
